The nearest airport is the Portland International Jetport (PWM.) Don’t be fooled by the name, it’s tiny. PWM is only about 10-15 minutes away from the city of Portland, so if you are flying into this airport, you won’t need to rent a car as Portland and Peaks Island are both very convenient to the airport. (Some Portland area hotels even offer complimentary shuttle service.) Other nearby airports include Manchester, NH (MHT) which is about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Portland, and Boston, MA (BOS) which is about 2 hours away from Portland.
Additionally, Amtrak runs into the city of Portland and the train is an easy way to reach the city. Driving or bussing is always an option as well; please let us know if this is something you are considering and need advice on.
